Dear Paul Thankyou so much for ringing back I am sorry I got scared and hung up without talking first time, it really helped you explaining cleaning blood as a caretaker is a high risk. I was so horrible to my husband and he swore he was faithful. Why do the NHS insist everywhere that its a sex disease? Everywhere I looked and the GP all said sex, when I read your information it all made so much sense, he has cleaned up in a boxing club for years, why don’t they talk more about this risk?

This reply was from a mans wife who had read NHS choices and decided her husband must have been unfaithful to get infected. This is common and very sad outcome of most of the poor info about hep b. Poor man had spent years being a school and boxing club cleaner caretaker and cleaning blood spills with bleach cracks and no gloves. Pretty much a guarantee of hep b infection in the UK's inner city schools these days. Cleaners of blood are often calling us on the helpline with infections, it is so common for them to be infected we have a booklet to get them vaccinated as routine. As poor pay workers they are in the front line of risk, especially those that deal with bloody glass such as bar maids and those emptying tampon bins. Also at the time of calling we had a boxer dying of liver cancer and sad fact is way too many boxing clubs even youth ones are unvaccinated.
